Mentorship at OAK TREE Club
We Foster Connection & Personal Growth
In our program mentorship isn’t just a feature; it is part of our foundation. We believe that children thrive in environments where they feel seen, supported, and inspired by their community.
That’s why we’ve built a mentorship model that fosters real relationships across ages and stages, grounded in care, consistency, and shared growth.
Mentorship is woven into our daily rhythm, creating natural opportunities for leadership, listening and learning. Whether it’s a 5th grader looking up to a high-schooler, a 3rd graders reminding an older peer to be attentive & patient, or a college student offering guidance to a younger peer, these moments of connection are powerful.
Mentorship increases bonds between members of our community by promoting accountability, facilitating empathy and increasing individual/collective responsibility.

An inclusive & empowering approach to Mentorship
Our approach is intentional and inclusive. Mentors are never just “helpers”. They are valued members of our community who lead by example. With support from our core team, high-school & college mentors learn to:
- Support younger students with empathy and respect
- Practice responsible leadership and communication
- Reflect on their own growth through service
- Create a culture of inclusion and trust
- Accept constructive feedback and improve on their performance
We offer training and ongoing guidance for mentors, ensuring they feel confident and prepared. Mentors gain real-life experience while making a meaningful impact; whether they’re helping as assistants for daily operations & classes, offering homework support or leading a group activity/game.

Meet our Mentors

Mentors are paired thoughtfully based on shared interests, availability, and compatibility with younger students. Each one is supported by OTC staff and encouraged to bring their full, authentic self.
Our mentorship program includes high school students, college interns, and young adults who bring their own talents, stories, and strengths to our community. Some are artists. Some are athletes. Some are budding teachers, writers, or scientists.
All of them share a common thread: they care deeply and show up with heart.
